In Reception we’ve been learning traditional tales. The children adore these stories. To enhance their experience of these stories, we invited in a theatre group who specialise in acting out Traditional Tales but also linking it to the Early years Maths curriculum.
The children were enthralled by the actors delivering the stories ‘Golidlocks and the three bears,’ ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The three Billy Goats Gruff.’
Baylee-May from RM, “I liked it when the number 3 Billy Goat pushed the troll into the water.”
Finley from RM, “It was good when Goldilocks ate all of Baby Bear’s porridge.”
Jake from RG, “The goats had funny voices.”
Willow from RG, “Its was good when the wolf appeared.”
This experience has really inspired the children to read and enjoy stories. It’s great to see the children acting out stories themselves with their friends, using masks and puppets as props.
