Year 5 learnt how to make a fire as part of their outdoor learning. They discovered the ingredients to make a fire in the fire triangle: air, fuel and a spark. Once we got the fire going, the children whittled down wood to make skewers for the marshmallows. Then the real challenge came – which brand of marshmallows were the best for melting? It was a closely run race, but Maoam marshmallows won based on their size (they were huge!) and the speed at which they melted – hard on the outside, soft on the inside.
