It’s been a very exciting time in Reception with baby chicks hatching in time for Easter! The children were completely captivated from the moment the eggs arrived and we set up our incubation chamber. Having these new visitors in the room opens up lots of opportunities for curriculum enrichment as we talk about life cycles, habitats and caring for things in our natural world. When the eggs started to move and crack the children were very excited but were very calm and respectful and watched in awe as Mother Nature displayed this wonderful happening. Once the chicks appeared it was love at first sight for the children and they have been inspired by their new friends. It has been a brilliant opportunity to make aspects of learning real for the children and observing them learning through this gift from nature has been fantastic for teaching staff too!
